The most asked question from families:
”Is segovia safe?”
My answer all the time:
”Absolutely!”

General Safety in Segovia:
What to Expect

Segovia has a low crime rate and is considered one of the safest cities in Spain, known for its quality of life, safety, and friendly atmosphere!

The city has a high quality of life, with clean streets and a strong sense of community, also you will never feel alone as there is a visible police presence in the city to make sure the streets stay safe.

Other common questions:

Are there any pickpockets?

As any tourist city, you need to be aware of pickpockets. Even though it is not a common thing to happen, people should always be aware in big crowds during peak tourist days and never leave your belongings alone.

Is it safe to walk back home after a night out?

Yes! It is safe but take in mind that it is always good to walk with your group of friends at late night hours. The great thing about Segovia is that everyone mostly lives in the same areas (Plaza Mayor and Aqueduct) so there will be students walking around all the time.

Can we trust the police?

Absolutely! If anything happens, do not hesitate to call them right away. The local police are helpful and readily available if you face any problems. It's always wise to know basic Spanish phrases for emergencies though, it will come very in handy as most police officers don’t manage english very well.

What happens if I loose my keys?

The first mistake most students do: Make a copy from your roomate and call it a day.
If you loose your key, you should contact your apartment’s owner and inform them, as they most probably will have to change the lock and make new copies for everyone.
The price of doing this can be around 100 EUR normally, depends if it is a weekend or weekday, but you should absolutely do this for your own safety.
Don’t worry, it has happened to the best of us!
